How to shorten a Google Form link
Sharing a form in a group chat, on a slide or on a flyer? Copy the responder link first. Then shorten it and check who can open it.
Already have the responder link?
Paste the full link into Helio Proton, press Shorten, then Copy. Free shortening needs no Helio Proton account. Open the result before sharing it: your form’s access rules still apply. If you only need Google’s own short link, its built-in option below may be enough.
Shorten a linkCopy the link responders need
- Open your form in Google Forms. Review Settings, including sign-in requirements and whether responses are still accepted.
- Click Publish, then Manage to choose who can respond. Use Anyone with a link only if the form should be available broadly. Otherwise, keep the intended people, groups or audience.
- Finish the access choices, click Done, then Publish. An unpublished form cannot be opened by responders, even with its link.
- Click Published, then Copy responder link. Google also offers Copy responder link from Share or Preview. Do not copy the editing address from your browser.
These steps follow Google’s publishing and sharing instructions, checked on 28 Oct 2026. Your work or school may restrict the available sharing choices.
Google’s short link or Helio Proton?
Google Forms already has a free shortening option. After publishing, select Shorten URL when copying the responder link, then Copy. For a one-off form with no need for a custom short name or click counts, that is the simplest choice.
Helio Proton is useful if you want the same shortening tool for forms and other links. Paste the full responder link, not an already shortened address. It returns a link on helioproton.nanocorp.app without a signup or ads. This address can be longer than Google’s own short link; a shorter display is not guaranteed.
For a custom short name or click counts, Pro is $3/month. Sign in with Pro before creating the link you want to track. Links made anonymously do not automatically appear in My links after subscribing. Clicks are link visits, not completed form responses or unique respondents.
A short link does not change access
Anyone with your short link reaches the same form, with the same permissions. Shortening cannot make a restricted form public or reopen a closed form. Limit to 1 response and file-upload questions require Google sign-in. A work or school form may require an authorized account.
For a public form, open the final short link in a signed-out browser window. For a restricted form, check it using an intended responder’s account. Confirm the form opens and accepts responses before printing a flyer or sending a group message.
Review View results summary before broad sharing. When enabled, response summaries can be visible to anyone who can respond. Keep private responses private through the form’s settings, not through an obscure short name.
See Google’s guidance on responder access and file uploads and closed forms.
Ready to share
Keep the copied responder link handy, shorten it, and check the result. The same result card offers QR for a downloadable code you can put on a flyer. Check the printed code with your phone before distributing it.
